The US Patent and Trademark Office is going to host upcoming virtual webinars on blockchain technology and its various utilities including intellectual property (IP) in the metaverse and patent eligibility in blockchain. The free event series will allow attendees to meet with stakeholders and affiliates in the distributed ledger technology, learn about their current trajectory, dream with them about their future goals, and gain an understanding of the importance of IP protection in this emerging technology. The office’s next webinar, titled “Intellectual Property Investigation of Protection in the Metaverse,” is set for July 19. East Coast Attorney James Gatto will host a session in August focused on the cross-section of blockchain, patents, and open source. The webinars run through November, and the office has already held two virtual events in the series.
